About Us

Sanctuary, Inc. is a non-profit agency committed to the provision of preventative and restorative services to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. We deliver caring, comprehensive support to victims of personal violence in the nine-county area of the Pennyrile Area Development District including: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Trigg. We seek to empower through crisis intervention, peer support, victim advocacy, and community education.

Sanctuary, Inc is funded in part by the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs, the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association, the Justice Cabinet, the Office of the Attorney General, the United Way of Caldwell, Christian, Todd, Trigg, Muhlenberg and Hopkins County, Kentucky Housing Corporation, and private donations.

Sanctuary, Inc. provides appropriate quality services to victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their accompanying dependents.

Services and documentation are client-centered, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive.

The staff of Sanctuary, Inc. recognizes and respects the autonomy, dignity and rights of victims.

Sanctuary staff assess for services in a manner that is appropriate given the circumstances and conditions surrounding the victim/dependent at the time of assessment.

Sanctuary will assess initial contacts at a minimum for:

  • Immediate safety
  • Perpetrator’s potential for committing lethal acts
  • Eligibility for support and intervention services
  • Immediate medical and physical needs
  • Special needs based on a disability
  • Special needs based on the requirements of a person's beliefs of practices

Sanctuary has a system for case management. It regularly plans, monitors, and assesses the progress of each person served.

Restricted Services:

  • Couples counseling for domestic violence clients is not provided or supported by our agency.
  • Family counseling that includes the presence of a perpetrator is not provided or supported by our agency.
  • Mediation services are not provided, supported or accommodated by our agency.
  • Batterer intervention services are not allowed to take place on the premises of Sanctuary, Inc. A Sanctuary staff member is not allowed to work with both the victim and the victim's perpetrator.
