What is it?

This program is designed to provide emergency services to victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their dependants. 

The program components are:

• 24 hour crisis line coverage
• Emergency shelter
• Hospital advocacy for victims of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence
• Emergency agency referrals (CHFS, law enforcement)
• Case management: helping client assess needs, setting specific short-term goals, and accessing community services

Who is appropriate for this program?

• Victims of domestic violence whose perpetrator is someone with whom there is or has been an intimate relationship
• Victims of recent sexual assault referred by advocates
• Any dependant who accompanies an adult victim

What is offered?

• A short-term shelter for residential clients
• Counseling and education
• Referrals to other community agencies
• Agency advocacy
• Intensive case management with emphasis on immediate needs (i.e. safety, legal, physical and mental health, financial, housing, substance abuse treatment)
• Collaboration with children’s program to allow for “family advocacy”

What are the program goals?

• Safe environment for victims and accompanying dependents
• Progress toward stabilization through individual and group counseling
• Awareness of community based supportive services
• Setting and completion of short-term goals (2-4 weeks)
• Ability to safety plan
• Progress toward support services or independent living
