If Someone You Know is Raped or Sexually Assaulted

The most important immediate steps you can take are:

  1. Get to a safe place or call someone you can trust.
  2. Call Sanctuary's Rape Crisis Center at (270)887-6200 or call your local hospital.
  3. Don't take a shower; preserve the clothes worn during your attack.
  4. Get a medical exam to ensure medical aid and prompt collection of medical evidence.
  5. Inquire about tests for possible pregnancy, HIV, and other sexually transmitted diseases.
